As
a community response initiative by the church, a project wing
was established to handle the physical and socio-economic
affairs of the community.
DC Eldoret responds to the community holistically, for man
is tripartite (spirit, body and soul). Whereas we do the best
to meet the spiritual needs of the society, we have an obligation
to give response to the various community needs that arise
as a result of the development progress of society.
As a need to take a lead role in the alleviation of human
suffering in our community [our
neighborhood, township and
nation at large], the church established a multi-faceted community
development programme (Rapha Community Development Program)
currently registered as a community based group.
In this way the church intends to provide:
1. Quality and affordable healthcare services to its
community.
This is based on the fact that not many residents of this
region can afford the cost of medical care.
The Rapha Medical Center that is at its final stages with
a target to provide medical care to at least 200 persons per
day. When complete it will host a MTCH (Maternal Child and
Health Care facility), a counseling room, laboratory, pharmacy,
examination room, injection room and a clinician’s room.
Besides the physical facility the RMC will involve in preventive
measure to maintain a healthy society and campaign on healthcare
services. Currently, the programme is undertaking a Hiv/Aids
response initiative this in terms of sex education, awareness
creation, prevention of the spread, home-based care and curative
measures.
RMC shall embody an all round health care provision for the
family and shall spear head health education in order to maintain
a healthy community. The church through the RMC shall liaise
all with other other stakeholders in the government in enhancing
an effective healthcare system. We aim at efficiently responding
to health issues and health and shall seek growth and expansion
to other remote areas where medical facilities are not available.
2. Quality Education with the emphasis on
the wholistic formation of the child-body (health and fitness),
soul (mental, social and emotional wellbeing) and spirit (moral
value and godly belief systems) healthy character formation
for the child shall be of utmost importance and the need to
offer hope and direction to the child’s future is an
essential ingredient to out educational provision.
Currently, the REC has established a pre-school unit (baby
class-ages 3 to 4, middle class 4-5; and top class 5-6) and
primary section for std. 1-4. This shall gradually grow over
the years.
From a humble beginning or 12 children in January 2004, the
centre has grown to a population of 70 pupils by the end of
the first academic year. Through providing quality and affordable
education to its community, the church stands out as a witness
and concerned in issues affecting the society I supporting
the government initiative to avail the basic primary education
to all children the church plans to supplement this by increasing
space for the provision of quality basic education. The REC
plans to undertake tyhee construction of its facility at the
soonest possible convenience at a cost of Ksh.3.6 M
