DANIEL GICHANA- UPCLOSE
You can only believe it when you come across people
talking about the greatness that is deep inside Daniel.
I had time to speak to his Sunday School teacher Mrs.
Omoke- who spoke complacently of how multitalented
the young man she raised in Sunday school is.
The proud Mrs. Omoke always grinned in jubilation
as she spoke saying “When Daniel was a little
boy I saw signs of being a speaker in him, he had
a lot of desire to know the scripture as young as
7 years. And whenever he had chance to minister to
other young children he showed that preaching and
went for it.”
Mrs. Omoke recalls vividly and with passion and excitement
…“I remember one time I accompanied him
to preach while he was still in primary school, somewhere
in class seven. He was invited to preach in a big
church. Daniel preached to the main service that included
different people and families”. Relaxes to take
a correct sitting posture then continues
“…I still recall to mind Daniel preaching
on Parent Child Relationship and
many people were touched and there was a testimony
that a broken family was restored. Actually a man
and his wife had broken up for a long time and when
Daniel delivered that sermon, he was touched and decided
to think over and get back to his family. Amen to
that.
Daniel remained in Sunday School until when he completed
Primary Education to join the Youth Ministry where
he is based currently.
From the fore going I can say, he is a great good
boy who stayed with us in Sunday School until one
day he asked me “Teacher can I go now, I
am now grown”. And knowing it well I let
him go.”
While with Sunday school he attended every Sunday
School, the Children Camps and the Vocational Bible
School meetings. And the most encouraging thing during
all this gatherings is that he grew to know God even
more and always showed leadership among his peers.
That is a Pastor definitely the proud Teacher Omoke
says. “There is a seed in Daniel that will take
him far. I am telling you, just observe”
So what about him…
He serves at the Pulpit Ministry, playing the keyboard,
strumming the Guitar or leading the Praise and Worship
team on Sunday morning, Speaking at youth programmes,
doing Music, dance and drama….
When he stood at the pulpit on Sunday to give us
his second sermon, it marked the beginning of not
only a powerful preacher in the making but a teacher
of repute and remarkable young man.
And as seen powering his actions throughout the stage,
it took him the 40 minutes or so he was given to preach
to complete a powerful scripture. Popularly referred
to Askofu, by his peers what keeps him going is the
backup given to him right from home, to Sunday School
and now in the Bible college.
And when I asked him for an interview, He surprised
me by the way he responded to my question with ease
and readiness in answers backed up with the scriptures
as if he had time to go through the questionnaire
first hand. He is a keen listener and sharp in the
way he answers questions, to me a good interviewee.
And that is not all; I had the greatest pleasure
to get a one on one with a preacher in the making
who gave me an insight of a rare glimpse of his life,
calling and aspirations.
